Mounty Tips and Tricks

For Mac, it is painful to read U disks or external hard drives with NTFS file format. Although Mac does support it, for various reasons, Apple does not want Mac users to easily and conveniently access NTFS storage devices. Therefore, the first suggestion is: if you are exclusively using Mac, please try to ensure that your storage device's file format is exFAT or other file formats natively supported by Mac, so that you can access and operate the files in these storage devices easily.

Obviously, there will be times when your Mac needs to access NTFS devices. So how can you access NTFS devices normally? NTFS for Mac is currently the most widely used application, but it is a paid application. Moreover, for devices like Mac that do not inherently lack support for NTFS access, it feels very unworthy to spend money on accessing it. In that case, Mounty is a good choice.

The normal use of Mounty will not be discussed here, only some solutions to common issues will be recorded.

This situation is generally caused by incorrect device insertion or removal. Please select "Remove device" in Windows before removing the removable device.

In Windows, use the command chkdsk X: /f (X is the drive letter corresponding to the removable device) to check the disk.
